The defect

Temsa Global is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 TS35 buses for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." The buses may have one too few emergency exits on each side of the bus for the number of seats that the bus is equipped with.

The risk

Passengers may be delayed in exiting the vehicle during an emergency which can increase the risk of personal injury.

Check whether your specific vehicle is affected

Recall campaigns often cover only certain VIN ranges. Enter your VIN on the official NHTSA site to confirm whether your vehicle is included and whether the repair is still open.

The fix — what to do

Temsa will notify owners, and will install a third emergency exit window on each side side of the bus, free of charge. The recall began on January 3, 2013. Owners may contact Temsa at 1-404-602-0151.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
