The defect
East Manufacturing Corp. (East) is recalling certain model year 2016 Hybrid and Steel Dump trailers manufactured May 16, 2016, to June 2, 2016. These trailers may have incorrect Federal Certification labels with overstated gross axle weight ratings (GAWR) and/or gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
If the GAWR and/or GVWR limits are overstated, the driver may overload the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
