Official summary
The 2015 - 2016 sonata (lf), 2016 sonata hybrid (lf hev), and 2017 elantra (ad) features a two stage (primary and secondary) frontal driver airbag. Due to a manufacturing error, the second stage for the airbag may not have been properly installed in some vehicles. In the event of a collision requiring frontal second stage airbag deployment, the driver's second stage airbag will not deploy, increasing the risk of injury. This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the driver airbag (dab) to correct this condition.
