Official summary

This bulletin provides information regarding a change in production to the design of the trunk torsion spring mounting bracket located on the underside of the rear shelf panel. This change was made to reduce the possibility of noise from the trunk torsion springs during opening and / or closing of the trunk lid. There have also been changes made to the replacement trunk torsion springs. It is important to identify if the vehicle is equipped with the old-style or the new-style mounting brackets to insure the replacement springs are properly positioned after installation. What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
