Official summary
"situation: a loss of performance may be experienced and/or the engine malfunction indicator lamp (mil) may be illuminated. Upon diagnosis, the technician may find one or more misfire diagnostic trouble codes (dtc [p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, p0304, and/or p1315]) stored in the engine control module (ecm). The ecm is to be reprogrammed in order to protect the engine against damaging combustion events. Cause: this may be caused by ecm software which, under certain conditions, could lead to damaging precombustion events that may lead to potential piston damage within the engine."
