Official summary
"issue. A customer may report uneven tyre wear on vehicles fitted with 20 inch wheels and continental 4x4 sport contact tyres. Cause. With reference to the photo attached, due to the tread pattern design of this tyre, there can appear to be inner or outer shoulder wear. This is in fact just the natural tread wear, but as the design of the lateral grooves continues around to the sidewall, the very ends of the grooves do not wear giving rise to a ""band"" of wear at the edge of the contact patch."

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
