This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a harsh shift or illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0716 or P0717 stored in the Transmission Control Module. Technician will need to check circuit 1984. Technician should use tool J 44152 on the engine side of the transmission inline 20-way connector. Technician should install a test light on terminal E and V. If the test light does not light unplug the Transmission Control Module connector and check for continuity across pins 45 and 49. I
