Official summary

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have musty odor from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The concern occurs happens most often on initial start-up after the vehicle was driven on a hot humid day. This condition may be caused by condensate build-up on the evaporator core, which does not evaporate by itself in high humidity conditions. Technician will use the Tech 2 scan tool to activate the afterblow follow the on screen directions to finish enabling afterblow.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
