Power Transfer Unit (PTU) If you have a leak at the transmission to Power Transfer Unit (PTU) interface proceed with the following repair. Do not replace the PTU for this leak. The issue is that the stub shaft on the transmission has become dislodged from the transmission creating a leak path from the transmission, not the PTU. Remove the PTU from the transmission. Inspect the stub shaft's interior differential seal to see if there seal lip damage or if it has been dislodged within the shaft prior to reinserting the shaft into the transmission.
