Official summary
The DDE software application for exhaust gas recirculation control (EGR) does not favorably match the diesel fuel grades available in many parts of the US market. The high pressure EGR cooler could become filled with soot particulate to the point that exhaust gas flow and cooling efficiency are significantly reduced. This could result in the Service Engine Soon light coming on with EGR control / Air mass faults being stored in the DDE.
