Part Description: ATX Shifter Issue Description: Prior to removing (or disconnecting) the automatic transmission shifter knob, for any service to the shifter or for console removal, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service. This will prevent a P1C86-14 DTC being stored in the electronic shift module (ESM). Failure to disconnect the battery before servicing the shifter may cause the P1C86-14 DTC to be set again. Clear the code before replacing the shifter.
