Official summary

SSPC6 - 2021 CX-5 and CX-9 TELEMATICS COMMUNICATIONS UNIT (TCU) CONCERN: On certain subject 2021 MY CX-5 & CX-9 vehicles, the electronic control unit (ECU) may not enter the power-saving mode under certain conditions, and a dark current may continue to flow even after the engine is turned off. If the vehicle is left unused in this condition over several days, the battery may drain and cause a no-start issue. This is due to the inappropriate software of the Telematics Communication Unit (TCU). To eliminate this concern, the Telematics Communication Unit (TCU) software has been modified.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
