Official summary
Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on 07-Jul-2021 and through 11-Jul-2021 may have previously not properly completed powertrain control module (PCM) reprogramming or programmable module installation (PMI) resulting with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U029E. PCM reprogramming and PMI for these vehicles has been updated in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. Programming no longer attempts to incorrectly program the nitrogen oxides sensor module 12 (NOX12) and should not result in a U029E DTC present. For vehicles that already have a U029E DTC
What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
