Official summary

Fault code 02543 000 ?Brake Vacuum Sensor no Display? may be encountered in the ABS module. This may be caused by the hydraulic brake boost function (HBV) in adaptation value 61 being turned off (value = 0). All Passat Wagons (including 4motion) and 3.6L equipped sedans with front drive should have this function turned on (value = 1). Change the adaptation value and verify the fault has cleared. Additionally, it may be necessary to lock the vehicle and allow the modules to go to sleep to clear the fault.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
